A new home is added to the list of new thing Joanna and I have experienced in our lives together.
To be honest this is the craziest new thing for me. To have a house to raise and grow my family in almost unbelievable to me, it’s hard for me to put a finger on why I feel this way but I could not be more excited about the responsibility that I have now.
I have my own garage, my own backyard, and everything is my responsibility how COOL is that.
I think I feel grown up and ready to take on the world!
Now Christmas is her and I get to do all the things my dad did growing up. I get to put up my own Christmas lights on the outside of my house and the inside. Joanna and I also got a real tree because its better to have the perfect real tree that isn’t so perfect then to have a fake perfect tree in my mind.
One of my favorite things about Christmas and cold weather is the fire in the fireplace! We now have a fireplace in our new home and are enjoying warm night by the fire.
I know I speak for Joanna when I say I can’t wait for our first Christmas party!
It’s been a while sense I have written on here. So here is a little update.
Joanna and I have decided that we are going to take the next big step in our lives together, we are going to be home owners. We will be building a house a little north of where we are now. A house big enough for our family to grow. In 4 years(5 year plan….one year in). 🙂
It took a little time but everything seems to be in place for us, just waiting for the details to work them selves out a little.
Our poor little puppy had his first encounter with fleas. Me and Joanna worked for a solid week sweeping and giving him a bath before we found out that the problem wasn’t inside it was outside. Due to the very mild winter the fleas never died and were in full force. Thankfully the apartment complex felt it was bad enough to take care of the outside and the inside of our apartment.
School has started for me and I have to say this year is soooo much easier then I remember last year being at the time. The kids already know what I expect from them so they art challenging me
as much as they did last year, and I am much more comfortable with what Im doing and what I want to do with the kids. This year I am doing walking club with the kids after school for an hour on Wednesdays. Last Friday I got all the paper work ready and printed out 300 copies to give to all the 3rd-4th-5th graders. I gave a good stack of papers to each teacher to give to the students that were interested I the program. I gave our 200ish papers….the teachers came back asking for more. Needless to say I was a little worried about how many kids were going to joining walking club.
I waited till walking club this week and braced for the unexpected. Thankfully all who were “interested” didn’t follow though, but a good amount did show up. About 42 for my first week, but more are expected!
Dear bachelor night ….please be over soon I’m sick of u 3 night in a row. Miss my girl.

So this summer has been a once in a lifetime summer. It’s in the first year of my marriage it’s my first full summer in indianapolis, my first summer with a full time job, my first summer with a dog, my first summer as a youth director, my first summer with a home to call my own.
It’s been busy and it’s been great.
It’s funny how time flys sometimes and you forget to enjoy where you are. I’m making the effort to enjoy where I am right now. This is the only time that I’ll be married with a puppy living in a town house in my first year of my marriage with my best friend and love of my life.
Sitting here in my house while my wife blesses other people with her skills and her heart of gold I see how much a blessing all of the things I gone though and have are!
Nine months ago tomorrow I said my vows to my bride nine months ago….seems like it was yesterday.
Life is good.
I can’t wait to see the adventures that are ahead of me. With God and my bride with me I have not a worry in the entire world.
So it’s been a while sense I have thought about blogging, impart because it’s summer and also impart because there is so much going on I’ve been very distracted.
So we will start with the busyness of summer, I have started my summer work at the YMCA and really grown to love it. I am a site director of the sports and youth and enrichment camps(but I try to help with all the camps) this job keeps me on my toes all the time due to working with children and being leadership. I have learned and lot and I hope to keep learning. I have fallen into the role of the disciplinarian this summer just as I have in the previouse positions I’ve had over the years. I enjoy being able to correct a child’s way and encourage them to a newer and better way. Seeing the light bulb go off in their head on something is AWESOME!.
Jo and myself for a couple of reasons started looking for a house to move into after our 14 month lease is up. After thinking about building, looking at houses everywhere and noticing that we are only halfway though our current lease we have decided that we Re going to stay at least a little longer where we are. Learning to enjoy we’re we are and not look ahead to our next stop is sorta a challenge for us but were getting there.
Weddings are happening everywhere! We have had the great honor to be invited to several of our friends weddings and are very thankful that we are done with the planning of a wedding haha
Sammi has grown so much……well at least a lot for a little dog like himself, it’s hard to believe the could fit in the palm of my combined hands at one time! He is still learning that even when we are not around he may not pee on anything….no more unsupervised time upstairs for sammi and no more bedroom for sammi. You little poop you. He is like having a child but from what I’ve heard not as much as I might think! Haha I’m willing to wait to find out.
I also won’t home for fathers day this year to be with the greatest dad I could ever ask for and nada blast cleaning up the back yard and making the place look good! While we were there my mom gave us a couple of pictures that my nana painted so we could hang them up at our place!
Jo is still working night and I still dislike that a lot but I also know its best for her to stay where she is for now god has great plans for her there. She is an amazing woman and I am so proud o her!
So. Sense we decided not to move out yet we have decided that we can get a couple more stuff for our place. Soo we got a carpet for our carpet…..haha….aka a rug! Joanna picked itut I carried it all the way to the car. We got me a video game chair and we found a chest ish thing that Joanna’s parents had in their gorage that they were not using so we helped fix that up and moved it into our place to keep sammi from stuffing his toys under the couch….o and to put Jos blankets in :p
Life is good with my best friend walking side by side with me.
In the last couple of days sammis world has grown about 15 feet when i got him a leash for him to go outside of our deck into the grass behind our townhouse. Needless to say he LOVES IT. He also shares this new part of his world with two little Spanish speaking girls.
I dont think sammi knows what to do with them. They on the other hand love him very much. I have been teaching them not to run up to sammi and that he is a little scared for them because he is only a baby. The older girl is very brave for a 8 year old she just wants sammi to like her. Sam is a little skiddish the only way he feels comfortable with them coming close to them is if they come with a little gift for him. AKA a stick.
I taught her that unless im outside she shouldnt come to close to sammi, and she has been really good about that. She is teaching me some good spanish words so i can talk to her better.
Today i let sammi outside so he could run around but didnt put him on his leash right away leaving the door open so he could come inside if it started to rain. Instead he started bringing in little sticks.
Now you got to understand the closest tree to our townhouse is a good 30 feet away no where close enough for little sticks to show up for sammi.
so i go out to investigate the back yard.
now i have the fence set up so sammi cant get out, i use a chicken wire looking fence and iv stapled it do the wooden fence.
The girls have found the small hole in the fence and have been placing little sticks for sammies enjoyment so he will like them more. Stinking smart little girls.
I decided that after all their work they deserved some good sammi time and let him out to hang out with the girls.
im the cool neighbor with the little puppy that teaches gym. Score!
Love it!
So in a matter of a couple weeks i have invested myself in the Indianapolis pacer. I have gone to 3 games in the last month (cheap tickets i may add!) The first was with the boys and joanna, then me and joanna went and this last one was my first experience with playoff basketball. The tickets werent the greatest but the fans were really into the game and made for a great experience and some great man time with my good friend jared.
The next phase of my time with the Y is about to start! i am going to be a director of the sports and youth enrichment camps going on all summer long. Me and girl i work with will be working together to make this a rocking summer and im really excited for it to start.
Today marks the first day of the Budget that me and joanna have set for ourselves so that we know where everything is going! woot woot.
so what is the first thing we do? start spending our weekly amount on eating out and get dinner at boston market! haah so far so go i guess! im excited to make it count!.
we got our checks from our bank today that say joanna and brian on them! so cool you dont even know!!
so it has rained and i mean down pour hid your pets get in side rained like 4 times today and for some unknown reason sammi wants to go outside on his leash and play in the grass right NOW…..booo! so i have the back door open i have the back gate open and i can hear him as he walks around exploring the new found back yard!
As he walks in the house i notice it looks like he got in a fight with a sprinkler his face is wet his legs are wet and his body is wet from the long grass that he just loves so much! welp i guess i dont need to give him a bath for a little longer. Thanks God for the rain! haah!
well monday and tuesday went fast. my family is coming this weekend! and i CAN NOT WAIT!
have a great week!
So it has been one year sense i graduated from Indiana Wesleyan University.
Sense then i have married my best friend, moved to Indianapolis, got my first teaching job, bought a puppy, became a youth director at my church and learned o so much about myself my god and my girl.
I am currently sitting on the couch watching some T.V on a night when joanna is working. A night i call my bachelor night, i dont like these nights at all. I thought they would be night were i get to have some good old fashion me time but instead i just miss joanna and play video games. Have i said how much i dislike these night haha
I am just over three weeks away from the end of my first year of teaching, who would have guessed this time last year that i would be a full time teacher at a local Indianapolis elementary school? no one not a single person. The way that god provides is always amazing to me!
i took my youth group on a youth retreat to IWU how crazy is that? we even won a T.V. loving what god is teaching me through these kids, the best part is that non of the YG kids are anything like me. i love that!
This time last year i was on the edge of crazy change in my life, this year i get to watch lots of my friends experience this same change in their own ways i have at least 5 wedding to go to this summer and fall! crazy excited to go walk with my friends through this time in our lives!
Im on the church league softball team, were not good but it think thats part of the fun. we get to learn how to play together and get better together. I have learned already in two games that im not really an important part of the team. iv batted 3 times and made it to second once, and grounded out. i think iv cought 3 fly balls in left field, thats it no more then that! i like it. I like that i can support the people around me and encourage them. next game is sunday can not wait!
At the end of this school year i start working at the ymca summer camp! cant wait for that too!
as for now me and sammi are hanging out on the couch watching some basketball and relaxing missing out favorite girl joanna=]
so its spring break! woot! im excited i get a little more sleep than i would get normally but this spring break is a little different than spring breaks in the past. This year im working during my spring break, as a YMCA employee. Every time there is a break in the school year there is a camp called schools out camp. I do my best to work at these because its helpful to the people that i work for and it gives me more experience and hours. So for most of this week im working from2-6 woot! maybe a little longer if im needed at anytime! (if you can do something to help some one in a time of need you should do it, because you never know when you will be in a time of need too)
So iv been noticing over the last couple weeks something about joanna and how the house looks. In her mind the way the house looks reflects her. There are times when sammi and i will mess the place up and she wont feel comfortable untill it looks better. Sometimes i try and help clean the house and i do a fairly good job and it will make her feel better for a little while and then she will need to put her womanly (and Much better) touches to the cleaning of the house! haha a woman always knows best. Im working on being able to clean like she can she just knows where everything needs to go and how it should work…i just kinda try to put it away to get it out of the way. I think i need to try a little harder and see where that ends up 0:)
So iv have been showing my green thumb lately and dont know if joanna knew i had that and at first it surprised her and now it just all makes sense. My dad liked to do that kind of stuff and so did my papou only natural for me to want to do it too! and she doesnt have do as much work outside cause i like to do it, and thats a plus! haha
well just took sammi for a walk to let moma sleep he is still getting used to going for walks he isnt very good at not pulling and wanting to go every direction but stright!
still and always learning
Joanna works nights….woot…..eh..
There are very few things that are good about these nights, if i think hard enough about it i might find something
lets see i get to feel like a bachlor again and i get to spend time with our puppy sammi.
Ok the first one is wayyy over rated, the second is a lot of fun.
I feel like im getting a little taste of being a parent, little sammi is a chicken and has lots of energy. I have to feed him i have to watch him, and i get to love on him.
lately i think he has decided that this is his place and he will take care of it. He stands in the second bedroom looking out the window looking over the house.
One of my favorite things is at night around the time he is supposed to head to bed he gets excited and runs around the house like he is getting chased by cat. haha
Tonight he decided he wanted me to chase him…..so i played tag with him….he would go to the door i would take a step towards him and he would go nuts! running around the house as fast as he could, then he would run up the stairs. Next thing i know he would be about half way up the stairs, stop and look through the banaster waiting for me to come after him…he did this 4 or 5 times…..then he was done.
I dont think i have ever had a dog like him!
he protects whats most important to me and he give me company
right now he is watching over the house at his favorite spot!
